A quick cut and paste from my email to mom... (as we are off to the mountains in a couple mins...)
So check out my story of today. By the way, I think it may have been a false alarm on the teeth thing... perhaps was just looking for a reason for her freak out. But anyway, last night she slept great and by 8.50 when I finally opened my eyes to get her this morning (she'd been happily chatting and doing her god life is so great i'm so happy screams for 20 mins) she was soaked through. So I changed her diaper in our bed, as I do every morning, but had no new clothes for her in our room, so stuck her naked self under our duvet to have a boob.
After one boob went down to dress her and when I got to sock time I noticed that 2 of her toes were very red and something was cutting into them. REALLY cutting in. I think it was a hair of mine, and god knows how but it was wrapped tightly around them both. I attempted for about 10 seconds to cut it out myself but realized it was impossible with a screaming wiggler. Only screaming when I was trying to hold her still, not from pain or anything. So quickly got dressed and drove her to our CAP which is our local clinic where she gets her shots, about 3 mins away. And upon showing the receptionist her toes (I mean, how do you explain that in my Spanish?) was whisked right in to have the doctor and a nurse and about 3 pairs of scissors and tweezers and a huge magnifying glass get the job done. Receptionist watching all the time and comforting my sweet girl who I was holding while she screamed and her face went red. Fun times! So the cut was just superficial and the doctor said since there is so much fat on the toes, no real harm done. She is now iodined up and I have bought some at the farmacia to keep applying and I just wonder how the hell it could happen. They told me it was a piece of nylon, but I think it was my hair :( Being me, in retrospect I wish I'd snapped a quick photo cause it was just so weird. What a mother, can you imagine, prior to seeking medical attention taking a pic. Guess it was a good thing I didn't or she would not have been impressed when she saw the pic at 15 years.

Oh my goodness! Her poor little toesies! Her poor little mother! I am glad to know she survived her toe trauma, and hopefully she won't be maimed for life - God knows our children have enough to blame us for already.
So is this a week of adding some grown-up food?? Maybe we can distract her from the pain with food - isn't that what they recommend?
